Faith Ministries’ Musical Team is available to perform at your special event, Church or other outreach activity. Faith Ministries is a faith-based ministry team seeking to reach the lost. Dobie Toms and his wife Lisa started this ministry in 1999. It has grown into a non-profit organization with an advisor and a board of directors. In the past, Faith Ministries has offered classes on evangelism, held tent revivals, passed out tracts, given away free Bibles and sponsored the "First Friday" outreach nights in their local community with free music and food in downtown Bedford, Virginia. Faithridge - Bio's Dobie Toms: Has been singing and playing music since he was 13 years old. He received his first instument, a banjo, he helped to buy at Christmas. Dobie quickly learned that he was able to play a variety of instruments; the banjo, dobro, mandolin, just to name a few. Dobie is the lead singer and guitar player for Faithridge. Dobie has traveled and played music throughout the east coast for a number of years. He also released a country album that was produced in Nashville. Dobie has a heart to use his gifting to reach the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ. Daniel Creasy: Started learning the banjo approximately 2 ½ years ago. A heart felt prayer from a mother that her son would find something useful to occupy his time was answered. Daniel has been blessed with the ability to play the banjo as well as many seasoned musicians. Daniel is 16 years old and besides playing the banjo, Daniel enjoys working on vehicles. Lisa Toms: Is a wife to Dobie and the mother of 5 children: Wyatt (11) Gracie (8) Cassie (6) Elisabeth (4) and Isaiah (17 months). Lisa home schools her children and occasionally works as a nurse on a Labor and Delivery unit at Bedford Hospital. Although Lisa was raised in Northern Virginia, she moved to Bedford in 1989 and has loved it ever since. With all she does for her family, God has truly blessed her with the time and ability to play the base fiddle. Lisa belives that being able to play the fiddle is a miracle, since before she started, she could not hold a tune or even recogonize one. Lisa enjoys using the gift God has given her to tell others about Jesus. Wyatt Toms: Is 11 years old. He received his first little fiddle when he was 4 years old and competed in his first fiddlers convention when he was only 5 years old. God has gifted Wyatt with the ability to play "well" at such a young age. Wyatt recently competed at a larger fiddler’s convention in 2006 and took 2nd place. Wyatt enjoys singing and playing for the Lord. He also enjoys playing soccer, basketball, building with legos, playing with his sisters and friends, and just being a young man. Jerry DeWitt: is Dobie's cousin and has been playing music from a very young age His Father and Mother also played music and were devout christians who had a great impact not only on Jerry and his sisters but everyone that knew them If it has strings on it Jerry plays it His dobro style is one that is developed from all the instruments and styles of music he has played over the years. |
